Video Conferencing Is Here to Stay

As companies around the world have been making the switch to remote work, having reliable video conferencing technology has become more critical than ever in maintaining day-to-day business operations. While companies are beginning to transition back into the workplace, many have realized the feasibility of remote working options and have decided to take a more relaxed approach to on-site operations well past the Covid-19 shutdowns.

Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, the world has become reliant on video conferencing technology to stay connected to colleagues, friends and family. Video conferencing platforms such as Zoom have transitioned from lesser-known entities to communication staples in a matter of weeks and the importance of solid WiFi connections has increased in the healthcare, education and business industries as the world has made the transition to telehealth visits, online schooling, and remote working.

As remote work may be here to stay, it is imperative that businesses thoroughly examine their communication technology systems to identify any weaknesses that need to be addressed. This is particularly necessary when it comes to video conferencing technology, as more and more meetings and other group activities are making the transition to the virtual space.

Perhaps the most important feature involved with video conferencing technologies is that they allow for seamless communication between in-person and virtual attendees. The conferencing systems in place need to be easily accessible by all parties involved, no matter the location, and should allow for screen and content sharing, high-quality audio and visual output, and real-time feedback.

Video conferencing systems should have quality audio technology in place to allow for compatibility with a variety of communication devices accessible both in and out of the conference room itself. Rooms should be equipped with an ample speaker system that includes signal processing for adequate volume control and equalization, as well as a set of high-quality speakers to amplify the sound and no less than four microphones to pick up all in-person speakers from any location within the on-site conference room. This optimization of the on-site audio is the first step in ensuring the quality control of audio output for all participants.

Once on-site audio has been secured, the output to remote attendees needs to be addressed. A main challenge for those on the remote end of video conferencing has been difficulty with the feedback being transmitted from the on-site microphones. In order to fix this problem, video conferencing systems should include advanced acoustic echo cancellation technology to sift through background noise being picked up by the microphones.

With all these considerations that need to be taken into account when choosing a video conferencing system, it would seem that the level of involvement required to set up a proper system is daunting to say the least. However, with recent advances in video conferencing technology, there are several systems available through Communication Company requiring very little set up with some even being ready to use right out of the box.
